Multi-Grammy Award winner James Taylor promises a night to remember, featuring the Top 40 singles, Adult Contemporary chart-toppers, and concert sing-along hits since his Billboard breakthrough, “Fire and Rain” (1970). With over a hundred million albums sold worldwide, he ushered in a movement of mellow, sentimental songwriting that firmly earned him a place in the sought-after Songwriters and Rock & Roll Halls of Fame.
Taylor will perform alongside his long-tenured All-Star Band, reviving influential eras in music with 20th-century gems such as “Carolina in My Mind,” “Sweet Baby James,” “Country Road, “Mexico,” and “Your Smiling Face.” His covers of Marvin Gaye’s “How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved by You),” Carole King’s “You've Got a Friend,” and Jimmy Jones’ “Handy Man” are some of America’s most cherished acoustic hits that dominated the AC charts similarly with originals like “Something in the Way She Moves” and “Shower the People.” His latest record, American Standard (2020), won Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album at the 63rd Grammys.
In 2016, James Taylor received a Kennedy Center Honor, one of the nation’s highest accolades in the performing arts. Last year, the Boston Symphony Orchestra awarded him a Tanglewood Medal for his achievements and contributions to the Berkshires communities.
Tiny Habits, Boston’s favorite folk-pop harmony group, will open the evening, coming off the heels of their first full-length effort, All For Something. They are popularly known for the hits “Mudroom,” “Malleable,” “Tiny Things,” and more recently, “For Sale Sign” ft. Lizzy McAlpine.
